Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. To kick off the season, we’re looking back at a couple highlights from Daytona 500 qualifying and the Advanced Auto Parts Clash.
2013 Daytona 500 Qualifying
Yesterday was National Girls and Women in Sports Day, so it’s only appropriate that we include Danica Patrick’s pole win from 2013. Other than Danica being the first female pole winner in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series, she was up for the Rookie of the Year award (ex-boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr ended up winning the Rookie of the Year award…..).
2017 Advanced Auto Parts Clash
Last year, the radios were pretty active during the race. Some big names spun out of contention – including the 2017 season champion, Martin Truex Jr – and there was even a spin at the end between Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin. I also think it’s safe to say Kyle Busch was also a little unhappy at the end.
