Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. We’ve got a couple races this week that are memorable to at least some, if not a good chunk of the fan base.
1998 Daytona 500
It’s the 20th anniversary of this race and it’s understandably memorable for a lot of people. This is the first and last time Dale Earnhardt won the Daytona 500 and one of the few times every member of every pit crew came out to pit road to high five the driver.
2017 Daytona 500
Another first-time win happened last year, this time with Kurt Busch. This was the first race with Monster Energy as the series’ primary sponsor and while it wasn’t the primary sponsor for Kurt for this race, they do act as one of his primary sponsors. Tony Gibson was especially happy because he’s from the Daytona Beach area so this race was even more special for him.
