#TBT – Indianapolis 500

Since it’s Memorial Day Weekend, we’ve got a second Throwback Thursday for you! As mentioned in the previous post, don’t forget to remember those in the military who lost their lives as well.

2014

In the second-closest finish in Indy 500 history, Ryan Hunter-Reay took the win over Helio Castroneves. Here’s a flashback to the finish.

Also in 2014 was Jim Nabors’ last time singing Back Home Again In Indiana. If you want to sing along, feel free – I definitely do.

2016

Alexander Rossi took home the win in the 100th running of the race, becoming the first rookie to do so since 2001 when Castroneves nabbed the win. The race was historical in another way – the local television blackout of the race, which occurs every year, was lifted for the first time due to the sellout.

#TBT – Coca-Cola 600

Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. While we more importantly remember all the military members who have lost their life, here’s some memories from the longest race of the NASCAR season.

2013

In one of the odder moments in NASCAR, the race had to be paused because a TV cable broke and a NASCAR official had to pick it up. Here’s some footage of the incident.

2015

Carl Edwards won the race that year on fuel and snapped a winless streak of 31 races. Here’s a look back at the last few laps and his backflip.

2008

Here’s a Crank It Up segment from the race that year. There are some familiar now-retired faces in it such Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin.

#TBT – NASCAR’s All Star Race

Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. We’re doing a special edition this week since there are some all stars who need to get their game on and go play (or in this case, race).

2007

The Busch brothers were racing each other towards the end of the race when disaster struck and they crashed into each other. If I remember correctly from a segment on Race Hub last season, Kurt still isn’t thrilled about it – and it was 10 years later (although he missed out on $1 million thanks to a wreck with his brother, so can you blame him?). Here’s some footage of the wreck.

2017

This was Dale Earnhardt Jr’s final All Star Race. In it, Matt Kenseth’s car blew up and Kyle Busch took home the win. Here’s some sound bites from it.

#TBT – IndyCar Grand Prix

Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. Since it’s the start of the month of May, we’re going back home again to Indiana for the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis.

2014

This was from the first-ever IndyCar Grand Prix. Sebastian Saavedra stalled at the start and Mikhail Aleshin ended up running into him. Juan Pablo Montoya also had problems as he ended up finding the inside wall. Needless to say, this probably isn’t how IndyCar wanted their first IndyCar Grand Prix to start.

2017

A few years later, the race went a lot smoother. Here’s some highlights à la IndyCar Radio.

#TBT – Dover International Speedway

Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. This week, we’re headed to Delaware!

June 2017

It isn’t a NASCAR race without a fence climber lately, and Dover is no different. Here’s some footage from last year of a fence climber.

Spring 2005

The spring 2005 race featured the closest finish in Dover history. Jimmie Johnson managed to edge out Kyle Busch for the win that year. Here’s a look back at the race.

June 2017

Here’s a video that NASCAR did providing information on Dover International Speedway, from pit road speed to banking and length of the straightaways.
