Battle of the Beers

Battle of the Beers – Coca-Cola 600

The Battle of the Beers is the weekly drinking game focusing on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. News, discussion topics and other themes of the week are highlighted and in proper Brake and Clutch form, we target them for a drinking game.

Preferred Drink: Rum and Coke (it is the Coke 600, after all)

Drinking Game

-If they understandably mention Memorial Day, take a shot.

-Relatedly, if they mention the names of fallen soldiers being on the windshields of the cars, take a shot (and if you meet or are with a Gold Star relative, aka someone whose relative in the military has died, or a fallen soldier’s friend, buy them one too).

-If they discuss the aero package from the All Star Race, take a shot.

-If they mention Chase Elliott taking over Spencer Gallagher’s seat for some races while Gallagher is going through the Road to Recovery program, finish your drink.

-If they talk about the visit by Martin Truex Jr and Furniture Row Racing to the White House, finish your drink.

-If they bring up the Joey Logano and Kyle Larson crash in the All Star Race, finish your drink.

-If Fox mentions the rail cam, take a drink.

#TBT – Coca-Cola 600

Throwback Thursday is the segment that takes you down Memory Lane for the races each week. While we more importantly remember all the military members who have lost their life, here’s some memories from the longest race of the NASCAR season.

In one of the odder moments in NASCAR, the race had to be paused because a TV cable broke and a NASCAR official had to pick it up. Here’s some footage of the incident.

Carl Edwards won the race that year on fuel and snapped a winless streak of 31 races. Here’s a look back at the last few laps and his backflip.

Here’s a Crank It Up segment from the race that year. There are some familiar now-retired faces in it such Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin.
